WHAT WORKS IN EDUCATION The George Lucas Educational Foundation

Joe Balbontin Jr

I am the President and CEO of Urians of Bayugan International, Inc. (U.B.I.) and founder. I am an MBA which I took up at Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan. I graduated my high school at Father Urios High School Bayugan, Agusan del Sur, Philippines. On July 31, 2011, I volunteered to organize this U.B.I. purposely to send children to secondary schools as scholars. With the help of the Trustees, Committee Chairs, and members, we admitted 25 sponsored scholars for this school year. Sponsored meaning our fellow high school alumni who funded their scholarship who are now enrolled in our alma mater. We want our scholars to be more abreast with the 21st Century Education that's why we give them a monthly lectures and film showings initially on values, good governance, commitment, volunteerism, honesty, discipline. Soon we will give them presentations on 21st Century Education.

By next school year, we proposed to admit more scholars as part of the U.B.I.'s expansion program. These hopeful scholars should come from the ethnic communities of Bayugan, Agusan del Sur.

We are hoping to progress and adopt future changes together with our scholars to keep abreast with the advancing technology. More so, we are hopeful to admit more scholars in the future through grant funding.
