George Lucas Educational Foundation Celebrating our 25th Anniversary!

Richard A. Watt

I am a retired social studies teacher and taught for fifteen years at the secondary level in Connecticut public high schools. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Economics, a Master of Arts degree in Teaching, and a Sixth Year degree in Educational Leadership. I hold current Professional Educator and Intermediate Administrator and Supervisor certifications. I served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam Era.
In 2005, I was recognized by The National Society of High School Scholars as an educator of distinction for outstanding achievement and excellence in teaching. Disillusioned by trends in national, state, and local education policy, and the increasing degradation, disrespect, and scapegoating experienced by public school teachers across the country, I resigned my teaching position in 2011.
