I have been a public school educator for 32 years, at all levels of education: early childhood through graduate school. I began my career as a speech/language therapist, fascinated with language, and the relationship between oral language, reading, and school success. Pursuing this passion led me to teaching a primary class for students with communication disorders. From there, I went to becoming a learning specialist for grades kindergarten through 5th grade. I "graduated" with my 5th grade students, and went to middle school, first as a special education teacher, and finally as a general education teacher. Along the way, I earned my doctorate, and taught methods classes at the undergraduate and graduate level. I still like 6th graders the best!
