I've been at DSC for almost 30 years, since its inception. For that entire time we have focused on helping educators to foster students' learning and growth in several dimensions of development--social, emotional, and ethical as well as cognitive development. We recognize that students are feeling as well as thinking beings (like all of us), with basic psychological needs for safety, autonomy, belonging, and competence. And we recognize that teaching, done well, is as complex and demanding a profession as any on this planet.
