WHAT WORKS IN EDUCATION The George Lucas Educational Foundation

Elizabeth Dyer

I teach physical science, chemistry, and physics at a small rural school south of St. Louis, Missouri. We are working hard to increase the rigor of our classes while making connections with our students' lives. My introduction to Edutopia was in a continuing education class on project-based learning that used case studies from the group. I continue to use the magazine and the on-line information to make my courses more research-based and student-centered. It helps so I don't have to start from scratch - other people have good ideas that I can latch on to. I would like to learn more about blogs, wikis and other kinds of technology, even though my community and my school has limited access to computers.
