Ira Schwartz

I started teaching "shop" in 1961. In 1970 I was appointed district coordinator ultimately involving 2 high schools and 4 middle schools. I built and guided one of the largest technology education programs in NY State enrolling college bound students and special education students. In any given year we had at least 30 high school elective courses including two programs that offered dual college and high school credits. In 1993, as I retired, the entire program, involving all the schools and 23 teachers was recognized as program of the year by the NY State technology association and the International Technology Education Association.

I now am a volunteer adviser to Taos High School in NM helping to implement a "green" construction program in collaboration with UNM Taos.
