I am a middle school teacher of English and Social Studies in a rural school in Alaska. Our middle school is fortunate enough to be a part of a 1:1 laptop program, which has made teaching much more exciting for me. In rural Alaska we experience many different types of social issues in our communities. The communities are unique to be sure, which comes with many positive aspects. I believe that in many ways the difficulties some of rural schools experience are much like difficulties in many schools across the U.S.
