Jessica Hockett has been a full-time education consultant for 12 years, specializing in interactive and differentiated instruction, standards-aligned curriculum & performance task design, the Understanding by Design model, classroom grouping practices, and program evaluation. Her work with over 100 schools, districts, organizations has supported a wide range of initiatives centered on improving teacher and student learning.

Jessica is the co-author (with Kristina Doubet) of Differentiation in Middle & High School: Strategies to Engage All Learners (ASCD) and Differentiation in the Elementary Grades: Strategies to Engage & Equip All Learners (ASCD), as well as Exam Schools: Inside America’s Most Selective Public High Schools with Chester E. Finn, Jr. Her other publications include academic articles and book chapters, journal articles, news editorials, and education blogs.

Jessica teaches graduate courses in the University of Virginia Curry School of Education Online Masters programs. She holds advanced degrees from the University of Virginia (PhD), University of Connecticut (M.A.), and National-Louis University (M.A.T). Prior to doctoral study, Jessica was secondary teacher in both general and gifted program settings. She lives outside Chicago with her husband and two children.
