I thought that some of you may be interested some information about a nonprofit program dedicated to inspiring middle school students to become more involved in math, and giving teachers and parents an engaging common core activity that they can use in their classrooms or homes.
The MATHCOUNTS Foundation is a national nonprofit devoted to helping middle school students not only succeed in math but truly enjoy it as well. MATHCOUNTS’ third annual “Math Video Challenge” is a unique way to help change this trend. Students create fun, engaging videos based on real-life applications of math. They can do this in class, or outside of school with a parent or other volunteer. To make the contest even easier on advisors, MATHCOUNTS has created a Quick Start Guide with all the information needed to participate.
