The past several months I have been studying public education systems. I am a 25 year old, self-motivated, energetic, proud father of a beautifully intelligent 2 year old daughter. I am deeply concerned with the education system and cannot afford private schools. I am from Peoria, IL (about 125k, 200k metro) and we have one charter school based on a lottery, which is a math and science academy for grades 5-8. I am on a quest to change our system! Instead of attacking the city district, I plan on going with a more rural, smaller district. I have done my research, joined Mom Congress, fell in love with Edutopia and others. Now it's time for the politics! Ideas, suggestions, anything?! I am gathering the troops now and stockpiling ammo. There is even a checklist on Parenting.com! Please any ideas would help.
