Greetings, I am the Education Director for the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture, (www.agfoundation.org) and a long time fan of Edutopia. I have a new free resource I want to share with this group. www.myamericanfarm.org My team has been working on an online set of games, educator resources and family fun activities for about 2 years now. Farming games are all the rage on social networking Web sites. However, those games, which let you grow bananas and coffee next to a field of wheat or soybeans, aren’t very realistic or educational. The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has put the finishing touches on its own agriculture-oriented game www.myamericanfarm.org. My American Farm educates users about farming and ranching and how different farm products get turned into the foods and other items we all use every day. All of the games and activities are subject-matter focused and agriculturally themed so that students learn through math, science, social studies, language arts and health. They learn about such topics as careers in agriculture and how farmers feed the world, care for their animals and take care of the environment. The educator resources section, recently expanded, provides teacher-led activities to be done in conjunction with the website, standards-based lesson plans and summaries of the games and the learning standards they address. Educators will find resources categorized by curriculum area and ag topic. Check out www.myamericanfarm.org and let me know your thoughts. Curtis
