Need advice on reading assessments

I need help finding reading assessments for my 5th grade students that align to CCSS. Our team has been using the weekly reading tests that come with our Treasures reading series but they only have 2-3 comprehension questions each week and are not aligned with CCSS. Does anyone know of a place I can find assessments that are appropriate for my students?

Honestly, though? I tend to think that homegrown formative assessments are more useful. I'd start by getting clear about what you're hoping kids will be learning/ demonstrating and then, as a team, create 2-3 items that can help you determine if they've learned it. Your question seems pretty broad- what do you want the assessments to tell you? What pieces of the CCSS are you targeting?

I agree with Laura. Rather than just templating something, ask those inference questions to go beyond the text... and engage kids in the higher order thinking skills that are absolutely what the common core is all about. How about..
What do you think happens next to this character?
Would you be friends with this character in real life? Why or why not? What advice would you offer them? What would you do together on a weekend? What are their best and worst traits? How would you help them solve their problem?
Even letting the kids choose a couple of questions from a pool of "going beyond the story" questions encourages them to put themselves into the mix and really think about the characters while demonstrating understanding at the same time. It may seem less "checking the academic box" but it also allows the kids an opportunity to express more of their understanding and feelings about the reading material beyond factual recall, while allowing you to identify where they are in their ability to use both facts and creativity to go beyond the page- part of critical thinking and creativity that's so important in common core and 21st century skills mastery.

Great advice! Thank you so much for your help. I agree that the formative assessments are more useful and asking a few questions that go beyond the text are the way to go.
