Hello, I am have been a Montessori preschool teacher for the past 24 years. My emphasis in teaching both to the parents of the children and the children, is compassionate respectful speaking, attitude, tone and actions as the basis from which all curricuum, conversation and learning is supported. I am a mother of 5 grown children, ages 33-21, 4 are college grads, one with a masters and my 5th is attending Oberln Music Conservatory. My philosophy in parenting is the same as teaching, respect for the individual, mutuality in creating our lives together and separately. There are many other words I could use to describe my passion for human rights and encouraging the 'gifts' that each one of us brings. This will suffice for now. I have just recently graduated from Channel Island University in Camarillo, Ca.with a BA in Early Childhood Studies and am in a Masters in Education with an emphasis in Psychology at Pepperdine University. My goal is to teach at the college level, incoming new teachers the importance of compassionate and respectful teaching practices. I am so excited to find Edutopia and visit the works in progress that support such care in education toward and with children. I am such an enthusiatic believer in cultivating the best outcome for all students in the learning environment. I look forward to any and all discussions that may arise from my introduction. Thank you, Emily
