We are looking for partners who are interested in working with us on identifying the best ways of using the ipods and ipads in the classroom. We want to have the children sharing app reviews and discussing the innovative techniques that they are helping to implement. We have recently started using augmented reality and would like to continue to learn more alongside other exciting partners. Thank you very much

I started this week working with the iBooks Author software on the mac. It looks like it would be a great tool for kids to produce their own books, adding multimedia, using it for reports, etc. and then publishing to the ipad so it could be shared with other kids in the class and school. It's pretty straightforward, and might be good for team projects as well- something to consider.

My kids use ipads in school as their personal computer. They have done everything with them from shooting movies to using flash card apps and creating ongoing study stacks, to using them to track assignments, email completed assignments to teachers, using the idea board apps to organize projects (like kidspiration)- there are as many options available as you can think of- do you have any specific projects in mind?

I am the tech coordinator for a private school. Next year we will be using iPads for Grades 1 and 2 and each child will have her own. I noticed Whitney mentioned using idea board apps to organize projects like Kidspiration. We have been using the Kidspiration program in both of these grades for some wonderful projects that integrate technology and the curriculum and have been wondering what we will use in order to continue these projects. Are there specific apps that work similar to the Kidspiration program?

Idea boards work like small "boards" or pads that also allows you to build flow charts, but not fully kidspiration like- more manual if you will.

iThoughts HD is the best Kidspiration equivalent;

Some others you might like:

Ideate- is basically a sketch pad, not too fancy. the idea board app is a little better
Board is more like a virtual bulletin or idea board
Skitch will let you annotate pictures and screenshots, which can be helpful
Book creator is also not bad.
Brainpop has a fun app;
Voicethread also has an ipad app
Storylines is a great building a story app; comic life lets kids create their own comics.
And just for fun, check out Morris Lessmore.

If you need photo editing and augmenting apps, let me know.

Thank you so much for this information. I look forward to checking out the apps that you have suggested.
I do have Book creator and love it.
