Good day Edutopia community. I am an aspiring middle school science teacher. I will start a master's program in education this summer in Columbia, MO, but I intend on going back to my home state (Michigan) to teach in a high-need school (e.g. Detroit). One of my weaknesses is being overly optimistic (i.e. expectations seldom = reality), and thus I am interested in developing a realistic view of the career. I would like to focus on things I can do now to build my skills and emotional competence to best serve my future students. Would you be willing to advise me on how I could connect with a mentor currently in a high-need school? Thank you for your assistance! Shannon
