Hello everyone!

I am about to start my first year teaching and I couldn't be more excited! I will be teaching high school drama as one of my subjects and, I have to be honest, it is the subject I am most perplexed by. I was hoping to reach out and see if anyone had suggestions for places to find meaningful drama lessons and where people have found some of their favorite ideas as as place to get started. Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Laura!

Congratulations on your new post. I would recommend two organizations to help get you started. One is the Educational Theatre Association ( You'll find a lot about theatre performance there. The other is the American Alliance for Theatre and Education ( They have a broader reach to teachers, parents, community, etc.

What an exciting time for you! The theatre classroom is the place your students will want to be because it's a place they are able to be expressive, loud and have fun. They forget they're working really hard! Keep in touch with us as you move through the year. I'd love to hear how it goes.

HI Laura,
I have taught middle and high drama for almost 20 years and this is the best one stop website I have ever found. North West Children's Theater uses it exclusively and I found while working as one of their instructors.

It has emergency first year and even teach your first day buttons. This is a life saver!!! Hope this helps! Break a leg!!!
