At a Teachers for Social Justice conference, one of the keynote speakers talked about the difference between many schools/classrooms and some. Many spend all their time teaching children how to answer the questions (on standardized tests). Others spend time teaching kids how to ASK questions, how to engage in the world, how to become critical thinkers. This teacher has taught so many children how to critically think and work with each other. Wonderful. Some might think this is only possible with "gifted" children, but they'd be wrong.
