We are making big changes at Edutopia to modernize our website and social media presence, improve our storytelling, and help us better serve the millions of people who enjoy Edutopia each month. Our commitment to producing high quality content about what works in education continues to be the bedrock of our strategy.
As the education advertising market has fluctuated over the past few years, Edutopia management has decided to exit the business of advertising sales. Over the past year, we have experienced an increasing number of advertisers who are no longer interested in display advertising as they seek native advertising and advertorial opportunities. Unfortunately, this change in the advertising market is not strongly aligned with our mission at Edutopia.
We greatly appreciate and thank all of our advertisers for their support over the years and we will honor current deals as we enter the first quarter of 2017.
While change is difficult, including the loss of valued team members who have sold advertising for Edutopia, we are emboldened by the continued growth of our audience seeking solutions for building better schools. Edutopia will continue its important work with primary funding from the George Lucas Educational Foundation. We are also in conversations with mission-aligned partners who are interested in providing institutional grants and licensing our content.
