Teacher and Educational Journalist
I'm a former high school teacher and then a teacher educator, at UCSB and then at San Francisco State. Now retired from SFSU, I do volunteer work with the California Film Institute's Educational Outreach Program, serve on the Board of the Buck Institute for Education, write a monthly column on education for the Marin Independent Journal and an occasional column for the Washington Post's "The Answer Sheet."
Areas of interest:
Reaching students emotionally and intellectually, changing the form of education in a world in which the traditional classroom in now an anachronism, and attempting to change the frame through which educational policy makers view the educational process.
