I am English teacher in Central Washington. For the past five years I have taught at a rural school located on the Yakama Indian Reservation in a highly impoverished area. My current projects include a Project-Based Learning science-focused 9th grade block co-taught with my school’s Biology and WA State History teachers and a English 12 course that focuses on combining classical literature and modern themes through Project-Based Learning. I am a National Board Candidate this year and am participating in the pilot program for the Teaching 2.0 Master’s program through the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. This past July I was invited to attend the 2011 Microsoft Innovative Educator Forum as a competitor.
