A teacher, technology expert and school administrator, I have provided instructional technology training and support to NY schools for the past 15 years, most recently as Director of Technology for Taconic Hills.
In four of these districts I implemented , where high-tech students organize IT service learning projects to support their schools and communities. I continue to help schools implement this model. Five years ago, I formed a web design company with some of these students, Beyond the Box Web Solutions and eLearning.
This company grew into a full-service, adult-staffed Drupal development company, Game Face Web Design, focusing on outcomes-based web development with a "Web 2.0" focus. Drupal is open source (therefore free) and makes a great school "intranet" to support "Learning 2.0" behind the firewall, where students and teachers can be empowered with social learning environments and tools.
Based on these experiences, I am developing a consultancy, The Empowered Teacher, to help schools adopt Drupal intranets and provide Learning 2.0 project development and training to teachers.
