I have worked in education for about 8 years, starting with teaching English as a second language in the Czech republic (my native country). I have also taught outdoor science for Orange County Department of Education and Czech for adults at Language Door, a private language school in Orange County. However, the bulk of my teaching experience is from a very diverse public school in Irvine California where I taught 5th and 6th grade for five years.
In 2009 I got married and moved to Washington DC, the hub of education reform at the time. I was very curious about the changes ushered in by MIchelle Rhee’s administration and I did a three month internship with the Human Capital team who had just launched their first round of observations under the new teacher evaluation system, IMPACT. I was able to transfer and translate all these skills to an overseas post in Pakistan where I worked on pre-service teacher preparation project funded by USAID.
I am currently back in the DC area exploring the education landscape.
