I am extremely interested in ecology and related sciences. I have a undergraduate degree from Juniata College in Ecology and a Master's Degree from Virginia Tech in Forest Ecology where I studied the decomposition rates of Loblolly Pine. I spent a year at the University of Quebec in Montreal studying carbon cycling in Black Spruce forest ecosystems of northern Quebec. I am passionate about place-based environmental education and are actively seeking ways to effectively integrate project based learning into my classroom.
As an educator my goal is to generate a passion in each of my students for their local environment actively engaging in service learning and to develop for each student a tool belt full of 21st century skills that will prepare them to be successful in a global environment
