Developing serious, educational games; our future depends on educ of kids
Drawing on work of my late wife, I want to motivate kids to learn — teach them to identify important information, organize that information, and solve problems. Learning is one of the most exciting things kids can do yet many are not excited. Drawing on the motivating power of gaming, we developed and pilot tested a new type of game that kids love: http://dsihome.org. It's about the science behind drugs of abuse but more importantly it teaches how to think critically, use evidence-based reasoning, and transfer learning to unrelated problems. The approach is extensible to almost any topic. We seek schools to evaluate a new version starting in January. Participation is free, now and with unlimited use next year.
