Within my role in Albemarle County Public Schools (a 26-school district in Charlottesville, VA), I work to lead learning. As my primary responsibilities, I serve alongside our division's instructional coaches to design reflective learning opportunities that help teachers actualize their professional goals, while also supporting our K-12 teachers who are helping students learn science.
A graduate of University of Virginia's Curry School of Education, I started my career as lead learner (i.e. teacher) in a high school physics classroom, and strive to promote learning within every organization I join. I have recently begun to focus on leadership development and the role of learning in leading, honing those practices as a member of the community of learners in Albemarle as well as the board of directors of Fluvanna County's SPCA.
