I attended Allan November's Building Learning Communities Conference in Newton, MA over the summer -Lucky Me! I had been communicating with one of the MIT researchers/builders of Scratch -waiting for it to become available so we could use it in our after school enrichment program- and she told me about the conference. The MIT team presented on Scratch and other emerging ideas from the MIT lab. They're still working on Scratch and promised that it would be out later in the Fall. Meanwhile, I highly recommend for all educators, the out-of-this world learning experience that is BLC. I have a link you may follow for information-both on the conference and the MIT presentations . This sounds like an awesome program. Since I am in the process of opening a new educational consultant/management company, this would be excellent for me to help set up in an after school or saturday program. I will research further. www.jtcreativemanagement.net.

This sounds like a great project for all students, but in particular our Gifted students. I will be looking into applying it into that direction.
