National Advisory Council member Nínive Clements Calegari is the cofounder of 826 Valencia [1] and the CEO of 826 National [2], which are nonprofit tutoring, writing, and publishing organizations. Before teaching in her family's hometown in Mexico, Calegari worked at Leadership High School [3], San Francisco's first charter school, where she also served on the school's board of directors.
Calegari founded the Teacher Salary Project [4], which uses documentary film and the Internet to advocate for changing how and how much teachers get paid in the United States. Calegari also coauthored Teachers Have It Easy: The Big Sacrifices and Small Salaries of America's Teachers [5]. She earned a master's degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.
