International Fund for Animal Welfare: Animal Action Week [1]

Here's a chance for us to celebrate the other 100 million species inhabiting Earth. During the first week in October (which includes World Animal Day on the 4th), students are encouraged to create a better world for animals in numerous ways: celebrating animals through dance, drama, and art; organizing a sponsored road race or bake sale; and distributing leaflets or creating petitions.

National School Boards Association Technology and Learning Conference [2]

A four-day event designed for district leadership teams, this is NSBA's largest annual educational-technology gathering. Focus this year includes open source initiatives and twenty-first-century skills. Stay an extra day to see country-soul singer Ronnie Milsap at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night.
