Do schools start too early?

Yes. Students, teachers, and families should have time to enjoy more of the summer (and older kids should be able to keep summer jobs). Students are more attentive and more likely to attend with later start dates, and schools can save on energy bills.
No. Starting earlier means ending earlier, and early start dates allow schools to complete the semester before winter break, which keeps information fresh in students’ minds and boosts achievement.
I don’t think school start dates make much of a difference.
