60 Percent: Need Geography Lessons

Percentage of young Americans, ages 18-24, who can't locate Iraq on a map of the Middle East. Nearly three-quarters incorrectly named English as the world's most widely spoken native language -- it's Mandarin Chinese -- and less than three in ten think it's important to know the locations of countries in the news. To help students become more geo-savvy, the National Geographic Society has launched www.mywonderfulworld.org [1], where students can go to learn more about the globe.
