The classroom can be a high-pressure and emotionally-charged environment for teachers as well as students. Half of all new teachers leave the profession after five years, and emotional stress is a major reason why. Now new initiatives are cropping up to help educators cope. One from New York's Garrison Institute trains teachers to manage their emotions in challenging situations, using strategies that include meditation.
