Yes. The four-day week is a workable solution to the budget crunch that schools face.

Maybe. Schools should look at other ways to cut the budget before resorting to a four-day week.

No. The ramifications of a four-day week, such as the need for parents to find child care and problems with extracurricular activities, outweigh the benefits.

Yes it is because Saturday to sit back sleep,or play outside,Sunday to clean up,Monday to Get caught up on school work.
yessssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
yesss i think they should cut school days off because now the students could rest more days and spend more time with their family and friends.. even though theres a lot of pro's and con's of this situation i still believe that they should cut down the school days.. but one thing they shouldnt do to our children is put more hours of school because that would be more harsh on them.. well thats just my opinion and i think that the people who thought of this 4 thats of school thing to happen should actually not put 2 more hours of school to our students.
all for the idea
I believe that school should be four days per week. This would encourage students to try harder. School hours would have to be lengthened obviously, but would you rather spend an additional two hours in class and a day off or be at school for the fifth day? If School hours were increased even two hours, we would never be in class another Friday! Think about it! With shorter weeks, you save money. I believe this idea would be an immediate success.
Students spend most of their high school life stressing out. Longer days of school, but with the extra day you can relieve yourself. For the teachers who actually care about their students, they would most likely see improvement in their mental and physical health. Students may need a little extra time to release energy but if you are practicing what they have learned, you will not have your student's sitting every day all day.
Schools’ budgets have recently declined a lot! If school was cut a day, the transportation cost would be really low. With the bus fees low, the athletic department and regular classes would be able to get new equipment. Gym teachers would not need over time for coaching either!
Although technically four eight hour days would equal to five six hour days, you get that one free special day! A three day weekend versus a two day weekend, what would you rather have? On the upside teachers would have an extra, more efficient, day to grade and students would have an extra day to catch up on work. For example, if you look at a student in China they have nine hour days weekly, and they are super smart! If we continue towards the eight hour school days we could be a genius country, just like China!
In my own opinion, I am all for this proposal. I think that a four day school week would be great. After school there is just enough time to do homework and watch TV. You don’t really have the time to want to hang out with friends. In the four day school week we could have an extra day to sleep in and stay up late, and we would have more time with friends. I would personally love a four day school week. With the economy in the gutter, the extra money would help us because it could provide us with better education. I’m sure that people would like to know that their tax dollars are not being wasted.
YAH! Its a great idea!
we should have a 4 day weekend so we can play some more during the week.
Also kids can get distressed if they know that they have 5 days or 3,600 minutes left of school all week for the many months to come. If kids only had 4 days of school school was only 3,120 minutes are left kids would be relieved and kids would also have more time to study and get good rest on Sunday after a busy week.
i think it would be good 4
i think it would be good 4 our childern to get an extra day out of school and we can spend time with them and we love them veary much and love to do all kinds of stuff alone together cant wait till tonight
This is a great idea
I'm a middle schooler, soon to be in highschool, and in my current events class we are currently discussing this. Extending the hours and days, as Obama has proposed, is dumb to say the least. When I get stressed in class, usually at the end of the day, I start to drift off and not pay attention. There have been many good ideas we could try: Start at 10, go to 5 PM. This works well because teenagers need more sleep. Although this doesn't agree with some, being they have after school activities and such. Every week we have a day off, we are more focused, and it seems like a surprise every day that we just got back and it's already tuesday or that we don't have to go the next day. We are proposing taking friday off, although I personally believe it would be in our best interest to take off Wednesday, being the students would have a day to relax and refuel, while the teachers had a day to grade monday and tuesdays papers before we go on.Some say that we would retain less information, but with higher levels of stree, that would happen anyway. Besides, if we took a day off, we would have the chance to talk to friends and get help online if we don't understand the homework and such. Yes, I'm only 14, and I despise school and think it's pointless in many ways, but I am told I am supposed to have an education, and I might as well fight for a better one. Also, if we extended the school year, we wouldn't have as much time to work and spend the money, which is what our economy needs; Teenagers to go out and spend gobs of money on stupid, pointless things. At this age, we want it all, and we haven't quite learned the value of a dollar. I understand the opposing views of this, but please, stop thinking about the parents who have to deal with their kid being home or the neighbors who will be bothered by a kid blasting 3OH!3 on friday morning; think about the children and teenagers who are coming up on the run and who have to deal with this broken mess of a country that the adults and such have made it.
4 Days
If we get Monday off it will change nothing. Tuesday's will become the least popular day of the week. I wouldn't want my break to be in the middle of the week because most likely the teachers will feel like we have all day to get things done so they would pile on more homework. Actually if you think about it if you have a project you most likely will have to present on Friday meaning that now changes to Thursday. In which case you can't get to much homework since you were presenting in class.
I think this would work great
Sunday: Break
Monday: School
Tuesday: School
Wednesday: School
Thursday: School
Friday: Break
Saturday: Break
One thing I learned in
One thing I learned in school is repetition and keeping things fresh in mind and frequent review helps in retaining the lessons. With that in mind if they reduce the school week by one day it should be Wednesday, not Friday that they take off. Wherever laws are passed to change the work week, they should also change the laws to make employers to allow employees to adjust their week to coincide with the school week. 4 ten hour work days should work. Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday. I'm not sure about how many hours in the school day.
with the case of the
with the case of the mondays...it doesnt really matter what the actual day you go bavk to school is, no matter what the first day back would be the worst, whether it be monday or tuesday.
3 days of school 3 days off
They should aliminate 1 day of the week and there should be 3 days of school and 3 days off of school so we get still some education but not ebnough to make your brain exsplode and shop your own head off its the perfect plan...hehe...
