Yes. The four-day week is a workable solution to the budget crunch that schools face.

Maybe. Schools should look at other ways to cut the budget before resorting to a four-day week.

No. The ramifications of a four-day week, such as the need for parents to find child care and problems with extracurricular activities, outweigh the benefits.

a four day school week is
a four day school week is just as long of a school year (shorter for 2 extra hrs. schools) so in normal 5 day schools you have to make the days any ways so your excuse of going to July has no effect whatsoever
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no cause u would have to buy your own sports suply and you have to go to school till 8 to 5:10 and i would be so tired and if u go to the boys and girls club then u would be there 4 only an hour and if your parents have work then where r u gonna go and if schools get shut down 4 anything like the swine flu or anything then u would have to go to school in the summer time
FYI
Gym teachers aren't the only teachers that coach. Also, coaching (when paid, not volunteered) is a separate contract. It isn't overtime.
As a teacher, I am all for
As a teacher, I am all for the four-day week, for everybody, not just for teachers and students. Think about it. With a five day week, you generally spend all weekend doing the chores that you let slide by during the week. By the time you get caught up (if you do), it's Sunday night. This way, there would also be time to spend with your family. Yes, work and school are important, but down time is needed as well.
NO
i dont think its a great idea because they would exclude sports and i love volly ball
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
NO CAUSE THERE IS NO WAY AT ALL THAT I AM GOING THRUE A WHOLE DAY OF SCHOOL TILL 5 THAT IS CRAZY AND IF I WANT TO PLAY A SPORT I AM NOT GOING TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING THAT I HAVE TO USE LIKE A VOLLYBALL THATS RETARDED AND I LIKE GETTING OUT OF school at 3 and i can go home and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if we do get 4 day school week then i already have to eat dinner at 6
noooooooooooooooooooooooo
no becuase you would have longer school hours.
and longer days and if they had to close the school becuase of snow storm or rain they would close the school and there could be schoool till july or longer.
4 day week
The reason they need to add the 2 more hours to each day of the week is to keep seat time. State law requires that we have so much seat time in a school year. If we don't have enough seat time, we either cannot graduate, or the school would become unaccredited. I am completely for the 4 day week... MORE WEEKEND! What more needs to be said??
Four Day Weeks
I do think that schools should consider four day weeks for a number of reasons.
1. Our students need more rest than they are currently getting in a rush, rush society.
2. Better planning could be done with additional time vs. hurry up to get everything done.
3. Less electricity, water, food, etc. would be utilized if the buildings were closed for four days each month. That would allow for an additional 48 days of funding, building repair, etc.
Good Luck
Should school days be
Should school days be reduced to four days a week? Is that a trick question?
