Pursuing certification for K-12 Spanish and ESL/Bilingual Eduation
I am a December 2009 graduate of UW La Crosse with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I spent this past year serving in Americorps as a bilingual teacher's aide in a 4K class for Hispanic Newcomers. Throughout the entire year, I never once felt like I was "at work"- I couldn't believe I was actually getting paid to do something I was so passionate about! I have just completed the course for my substitute teaching permit, and hope to get some additional classroom experience as a substitute teacher this fall/winter. Starting in January 2012, I will be headed to Madrid, Spain to teach ESL at the Evangelical Christian Academy for a year. Once I return to the states, I plan to pursue teaching certification and hope to eventually obtain a job in central Wisconsin.
