This year's Readers' Survey was conducted at Edutopia.org March 26-April 30, 2008. Readers' Survey 2008: Top Concern of Parents

In the majority of responses to this category, we see the mighty power of instinct at work. As nature demands, and as current events dictate, parents are most concerned about their children's physical safety at school, according to our readers. At least one teacher, though, found parental anxiety about a more intangible threat, described as "the destruction of innocence."
Competing for parents' attention are topics related to their children's future success, grades and test scores. Will their children graduate? Will they do so with honors? What college will they be able to attend? A few, however, have a more Zen attitude, an in-the-moment concern that, though in the minority, still warms the heart: They want to know if their children are happy, have friends, and "are being cared for."
