A discussion of landfills is located in the Education Department, and it's linked to Trash a Pizza! The activity shows visitors how to make a paper mache model of a pizza with solid waste toppings. Divided into nine segments or categories, the pizza's toppings or trash represent the composition of American landfills. Visit The Imagination Factory's Outlet Store to learn about our new Holiday Art and Crafts CD that was released on Earth Day.

Children's Web Site Encourages Creative Reuse and Recycling

I've been encouraging kids to reuse and recycle materials to make art for more than 35 years. Although many adults are finally getting into the habit of recycling, I think children are the ones who will make a difference in helping to save the environment. That's why I created The Imagination Factory and posted dozens of free, art/reuse activities online.

Following this message is a brief description of the site. I hope you'll visit, and while you're there, look for photos of my giant, solid waste dinosaur Trashasaurus Rex. Please consider linking to The Imagination Factory and/or listing it as a resource.

Children's Web Site Encourages Creative Reuse and Recycling

Listed by the American Library Association as one of the best online resources for kids, The Imagination Factory is an award winning site that shows visitors how to make art using materials most people throw away. Some of the activities include drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, paper mache, marbling, and crafts, and a special section for holiday art and crafts is featured.

A Trash Matcher helps visitors find appropriate art activities for the solid waste they have available, and a feature called the Badge Matcher allows Girl Scouts and their leaders to quickly locate art activities that help satisfy badge requirements. Trashasaurus Rex, the site's mascot, heads the Public Relations Department, and there are numerous links to other art and environmental sites in the Research and Development Department.
