A few weeks ago, New York City mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced that he intends to enforce his city's ban on cell phone use in schools. The ubiquitous devices are prohibited on New York's public school grounds, as they technically have been for years, but now Bloomberg says he will send police to campus to confiscate them, and angry parents and policy makers have risen in protest.
Those in favor of allowing cell phones on school campuses say they enable families to keep in contact during school hours and can be vital in emergencies. Those who object to students carrying cell phones claim they are a nuisance and a cheating device and can even be a danger. (Some, for example, claim they can be used to organize gang activity.) Where should schools draw the line? We're interested in your opinion.

i think that cell phones should be permitted on school campus. and that we should be able to use them during school with free time or at lunch. teachers can have their cell phones, why not the students? but also that texting should be ok. not calling out unless emergencies. there are times like when locked down that students should be able to call out so their parents aren't alarmed with police, etc... surrounding the school.

Yes kids should be allowed to have cell phones during school because if there was a lock down and say the perp messed up the phones if you had a cell phone you could call your parents to let them know and then call 911, but thats why kids should be allowed to have cell phones in school!!!!!

I myself am 13 and i am doing this subject on a paper...im using this survey in my persuasive writing I am writing to try and get our school board to say that cell phones are ok to bring to school...i believe they are a great way to stay in touch with family if anything is wrong...exp.9-11..well have to finish my prewritting..

kids should be allowed to use their cell phones durring school cuz if their parent or guardians need to contact them they could txt them and tell them whatever they need to kno!!!! and the kids could talk to their friends on their cell phones too!
but durring tests they cant use them cuz they might cheat!
so teachers should tell the kids to put the kids phones away!!
