i think that we just shouldnt go to school. eh hows that one
School is to be an environment that is devoted to learning. Running a school and teaching are challenging jobs -- people need to be free to do their jobs, and they should (with that freedom) be expected to do their jobs well. I think school officials and teachers should have the power to decide what policy on cell phones is most in line with their mission in their particular geographic, socioeconomic and educational circumstances, and be able to make exceptions to their policies for extraordinary circumstances.
yea exacttli cellhones are a part of life and without them .. they are important for keeping touvh in case of emergenies. What if some were to happen to the kids in the case of a lockdown or any sever circumstance how will they keep in touch with their loved ones ... banning cellphones could get them into more trouble and thats jus a fact so yea ..
cellphones should b allowed cuz THEY ROCK and every kid should have one :)
i think that thiss is all stupidd.
Cell phoness should be allowedddd.!!
ITS PART OF LIFE ! GET WITH THE PROGRAM PPL !
Sweetie, I understand that you don't like not getting your way but the simple fact is that teachers are adults. With adulthood and the role of teacher in a classroom comes certain priviledges that children simply cannot handle because they are impulsive and irresponsible. I happen to feel, as a teacher, that cell phones at school are fine as long as they are powered off during academics. Teachers follow those same rules unless there is a family emergency or the phone is being used for work related purposes, i.e. the PA system is down and a teacher needs to communicate with the fron office. At my school students are required to leave them in their lockers. They are an avenue for cheating and multiple forms of inapproproriate behavior. If a student needs to communicate with their parent, school staff and faculty will make sure the parent is contacted. Forgetting something at home and feeling that you need to call a parent is not an emergency. Having to deal with the consequences of forgetting this "something" is a lesson in responsibility.
Yes, teachers get paid but you'd be surprised how little we get paid. It is far below what we deserve. I had 40 students in my class last year. Imagine what it is like to try to get that many people to want to learn and participate in class when they can't even sit at their desk without touching someone else. Add to that the distraction of text messaging when you should be listening and you have completely wasted your time for the last 50 minute period.
Your payment for being a student is far more valuable than any amount of money. It is knowledge. You live in the greatest country in the world, a counrty where every citizen has the right to the same quality education. In most other countries, the only way you'd receive the same quality education would be if your parents were insanely wealthy.
All these rules that you feel are so arbitrary are in place for the greater good of the majority of the students, not just to inconvenience you. I have no idea how old you are but you have a lot to learn. You are incredibly self centered and selfish on this point and you are infringing upon others' right to learn. Your cell isn't just a distraction for you, but a distraction to others that actually want to learn.
Teachers cannot control what you own but we can control the environment in which our students learn. If we feel that you are in ANY way causing another human being to suffer, you will have to face the consequences.
As for your gunman scenario, it doesn't make sense. If someone has a gun pointed at you, what makes you think they would give you time to call 911? Think! You should put down the cell phone an enter reality.
i think cell phones should be alowed in school because what if we miss the next bus and no more buses come untel 1 houre and you need a ride
i think your right holmes ;)
oh puh-leez pay phones are so like yesturday.wat if a student does not av the money to use a pay phone or even av the money and no change wat would happen to that person huh.pay phones on school grounds that is so lame i strongly bleve that cell phones should be allowed with ground rules n adult supervision.
i think that cell phones should be banned becuz we use them in school anyways
