I think it shouldn't be banned. Our middle school recently banned it and it's so annoying that they think that 11-14 year olds can't make their own decisions. What's next, a complete ban on soda pop? Gees. I'm a healthy wait and I DON"T WANT ANY OF THIS CRAP.

I'm in middle school and this retarted "Anti Obesity Law for Indiana" ended the pop. I'm a healthy weight and I find it unfair to be punished! I want my pop back. I don't have it much, but I think a preteen is old enough to make his/her own decisions.

You shouldn't have to take soft drink machines out of schools. The child should be responsible enough to choose not to buy a soft drink if they are overweight. Don't punish the teachers, and students who don't have a weight problem. Some of the revenue generated by those machines go back into the school to buy extra paper and other office supplies for the teachers when state funding runs out or is put somewhere else. It's simple, if you have a weight problem, don't buy the Coke and go run.

I realize that these comments are probably offensive and not very Politically Correct, which quite frankly I am proud of.

Okay so I am not a dietition or whatever but i think i am old enough to say that it should be ban. I understand most kids in their mid teens might not have the biggest impact but then again you wouldn't know. I see several students from my school in the vending machines 3 or 4 times a day and when the school olt has diet coke and coke zero people want more. I know a kid who started bringing several amounts of pops to school and started to sell them during his classes. Then when you look at the amount of people bringing a lunh i see a little over 60% of them with pops. Not only do i belive it should be banned from school but i also believe the schools should have a day where there is a 1 hour assembly on why soda is bad for you. What are the risks and everything. I can understand half of the school might not be present but the other half is. Parents need to teach their children the risks of high sugar drinks and snacks before they grow up with them.

I agree that elementary and middle schools should not be allowed to drink soda in schools because at that age, despite what they may think, they cannot make an informed decision. When high school comes around the teenagers are old enough to make an informed decision. If they decide to drink a lot of soda and get fat, they will have to accept the consequences. However they should figure a way to help the ones that do. (health class is NOT enough. to them its just a class... most of them don't bother to listen.)

sodas banned at schools

It would make perfect sense to ban candy, chips, sodas and anything sweet from the campuses of all of our children. If there parents want to poison their kids at home that is their business, but the government should not be apart of that effort. Just like we ban smoking on campuses to save the lives of our children, the sodas, candy and chips are killing them even faster. according to Oprah's doctors Dr. Oz and the other one 30% of our school age children at OBESE, that is not just 30 lbs over weight that is FAT and having problems like inflamation, high blood pressure, irregular heart beats, diabetes, high cholesterol and many other adult aging diseases. These children will NOT outlive their parents and this is a CRIME! What do we have to do to get the school boards to see this issue is serious?

but i feel that if they take the sodas and snacks away that it would benefit their health and their ability to focus more in school because when you have snacks and sweets on campus it usually makes you more hipper than it would if you didnt have any
