instead of buying note books, folders, pens, pencils and all that good stuff we should just buy one laptop in 6th grade and have it for the rest of your life!! its better for the future because when we grow up that's all we will have is laptops. its a lot better for the planet everyone's saying that we need to take care of our earth so than we should by compeletely taking out text books and note books and everything and just use laptops!!!!!!!!!!!:):):):):)

peace, love, happiness :):)

i am 12 and in middle school.my dad spent almost 400 dollars on text books and supplies for school on me and in this economy, that isn't helpful. if we take care of them right, laptops could last for years! and you can get them cheap! plus, its a great way of going green. schools can spend millions of dollars on textbooks and use a bunch of paper, or we can use laptops for research, writing, and reading.

I'm a Year 11 student.

I think that laptops would be a welcomed edition to the education system by both Students and Teachers. It would finally destroy the dichotomy between children and school, but it also has it's drawbacks.

A laptop will likely last 5 years from an optimistic viewpoint. Children are going through that inevitable "rebellious stage" around high school, and will no doubt graffiti everything. Including laptops.

What happens when the students drop the laptops? Or when they become so clogged with graffiti that you can barely turn them on? Unless the students themselves are made to pay for the laptop they will have little or no respect for it.

Thus, while I contend the usage of laptops in middle/high school, I think they would be ideal for Senior School. Years 11 and 12 you start to evaluate your options in life. Teachers don't care if you study, because if you don't; you fail.

In closing, I think it's great for years 11-12, but not quite there for years K-10.

i think that there should be laptops for each kids because laptops cannnot be ripped or anything but textbooks can. In the future kids will have to use MORE computer technology than writing, reading, research, or having to go over the textbooks. find the research. Computer technology is much better in my opinion.

I agree because we will be able to save money not buying textbooks every single year! Overall the laptops will pay for themselves!

a lapatop is so much easier to keep track of papers, books, projects, and current events and everything of that sort. if you think about this teachers... if kids do all their work on their laptop they wouldn't be able to use the excuse... "i forgot it at home" or "i did it but i cant find it in my binder". your binder? what binder? haha you would now have a file to keep track of everything and u would never be without your study "equiptment" or things you need at home. Everyone would save money. The schools would save money and the students and their parent/gaurdian. The school would save money because they would not have to constantly be buying NEW textbooks for our schools. If you think about it if each text book is about 40-60ish dollars and we have at least 25 PER-CLASSROOM!!!!! then that is a looooootttttt of books and money that could be used in a different way. The students/parent/gaurdian would save money on school supplies instead of buying new books and pencils EVERY year from kindergarden-12th grade? that is 13 years of school supplies. it would be easier and less expensive if you bought ONE computer/laptop for all 13 of those years. wouldn't it? please respond or comment on my pooinion i would like to hear what you think about it.

thank you. a concerned student

I think this is a great idea. The high school that i applied for is going this; no paper what-so-ever. It's a pretty good way for going "green".

hey, yeah the money would cost the school lots but think laptops don't get woren out like books do. so instead of buying books every so years you would just have to but one laptop that would the student for a long time. and think when you are in high school and you miss a day it is like missing two days becuase the homework is soo much. well if your teachers just emailed you your assignments it would be like you were never gone.
