A New Day For Learning

A wonderful video with many great examples for enriched learning. I've been fortunate to work in two California districts that successfully promote project-beased learning that is a boon for the entire community. Unfortunately while No Child Left Behind and the right-wing DC politiicans that dictate standardized testing as the holy grail that antiquated model will continue to be our educational Titanic, as the funding for great ideas like the ones in this video will sink along with the trillions in funding for the long lost Iraq war.

new Day for Learning Video

Saw this video in Jan. 2007 at the Mott Afterschool Network gathering in New Port, RI and just found it here on the web as I was preparing for a presentation at a National 4-H Curriculum Summit. There is such a need for all youth serving organizations to work with the schools and other community partners to truly engage youth in this NEW Day for Learning. As the last speaker said in the video, "If you have the word YES written on your heart, you can make anything happen..

Would like to use this at our fall Aferschool Network gatherings to inspire discussion.

New Day for Learning video is inspiring

would be a wonderful world if we could be allowed to have wonderful programs like this in every school. i wonder if those districts shown in the video show improved test scores because of the wonderful skills they build in their students?
