Amanda Shotzberger, a high school senior in Libby, Montana, chose to study local black sheep John H. Geiger through the Montana Heritage Project. Her paper on the ne'er-do-well, filled with primary sources and oral interviews, impressed the Montana Historical Society so much that she was asked to read it at the society's 2003 “Jerks in Montana History” conference.
