The Jefferson County Public Schools's CARE for Kids program doesn't rely on gadgets, grants, or major staffing changes, but it does require a shift in the attitudes and approaches of educators throughout the school district. And, as the program moves toward that goal, teachers take on increasing responsibility, evolving from classroom practitioners of CARE for Kids to districtwide proponents.
The CARE for Kids leadership team at Breckinridge-Franklin Elementary School, made up mostly of teachers, steers the program and supports colleagues in making it succeed.
