Discipline and Culture
In order to reshape school culture and equip students with strong social and emotional skills, educators in Jefferson County schools participating in CARE for Kids have adopted a constructive, nonpunitive approach to discipline. This new brand of classroom management, designed to be both positive and educational, requires teachers to share power and control with students and to turn incidents into learning opportunities.

Teachers in the Jefferson County Public Schools take care to involve students in setting their own guidelines for how they want their classroom experience to be.
