Having lived in Hawaii, I'm not surprised by the technology available to them. I remember them having a very good education system. And while life there seemed to be "laid back", there were tons of educational opportunities available on Oahu, even 20 years ago. Also, genealogy was always very important to Polynesians, as their culture was dependent on it. So I'm not surprised in the use of technology by students to document and track genealogy and cultural events. Once again, these things are not looked upon as relevant in places where I'm to teach. maybe it will be another way to motivate the students, if we can get access to the technology.

I thought the video was

I thought the video was great. The school used all students from every grade. It was not only to the older or good students but everyone. I like that they don't exclude the younger kids. I feel that technolgy can be incorporated in any lesson. The teachers just have to be creative. I think that it is great that they are starting the kids on the computer in the 1st grade. I thought this was good. I feel that I could incorporate technology in any subject area with plenty of research

Hawaiian Students and Tech

Loved it. What a great way to build community!
I do not have a forum for students to do that so my 7th and 8th grade students do morning announcements over the intercom. But we might be able to do this using all of computers on a Blackboard or tech forum...well maybe we could.

I just finished a project

I just finished a project with my students on interviewing family members and then the students orally presented the students. I really like the ideas of incorportating technology into the project. What a great way to start the day. With a news broadcast.

1. Describe your initial reactions or thoughts as you watched this video.
I thought the video was interesting. The male teacher used simple lesson plans but incorporated whatever he could using the technology available. The students are learning, they are actively engaged, and they appear to be having fun.

2. What did you learn about technology integration from this video?
I learned that all subjects can be integrated using technology.

3. What did you learn about pedagogy (the art of teaching) from this video?
I learned that the teachers were patient and did exclude anyone from learning.

4. Do you think these types of projects are possible for you and your students? Why or why not?
I think that all subjects are possible using the new technology. Teachers just need to get use to using it or integrating it.

I WENT To THIS SCHOOL!!

Impressive High Tech Elementary School

Fantastic video showcasing all the wonderful work being done by your K-6 students! This shows how powerful using technology as a learning tool can be for elementary aged students. Keep up the excellent work!

Video clip

I believe this video is excellent. I think it provided great ideas demonstrating several levels of students all working together to produce a morning opening. I think this is an excellent method of learning. Younger students learn from the example of others. In addtion, I think it is an excellent example of project based learning and using technology. I genuinely enjoyed watching it.

Wow, I am really impressed

Wow, I am really impressed with all that you do to use technology in your teaching. Your school is awesome.

Great video, definitely

Great video, definitely shows how children of all ages and levels can learn given the access to quality resources in education.
