The children even though very young seemed so engaged! Also the fact that what they were doing made sense to them also helped. Learning hands-on, with real life applications, while having fun.

Problem solving is a real world activity that students do without realizing they are doing it everyday. With technology changing everyday, students have the ability adapt and solve problems that did not exist when I was a student. The use of technology in the classroom adds to the problem solving process.

This is just amazing that kindergarten students are being able to participate like this!! The whole school is eligable to participate in so many interactive projects which assists learning and creation. These children are truly learning. It is not memorization or boring classroom routines.

Integrating Technology into Learning

Through this video, I feel that creative thinking and the ability to let students make mistakes and problem solve their way to a solution are two of many characteristics that are vital to educators who are integrating technology into daily classroom learning. Educators are the exclusive facilitators to learning through technology. Further, enhanced preparations for real-world experiences can be achieved by having students be responsible and independent of their own learning, all while allowing each students to express their learning in different means, through technological developments. Also, allowing students to make abstract connections between technology, the community, and learning will aid in higher ordered understanding and highly motivated learning.

I love the way that they used technology to make a connection to culture. I love that they involved students of varying grade levels. I love that the findings of the research were posted on the school's website for all to see. What a wonderful way to create a sense of community.

Having lived in Hawaii, I'm not surprised by the technology available to them. I remember them having a very good education system. And while life there seemed to be "laid back", there were tons of educational opportunities available on Oahu, even 20 years ago. Also, genealogy was always very important to Polynesians, as their culture was dependent on it. So I'm not surprised in the use of technology by students to document and track genealogy and cultural events. Once again, these things are not looked upon as relevant in places where I'm to teach. maybe it will be another way to motivate the students, if we can get access to the technology.

I thought the video was great. The school used all students from every grade. It was not only to the older or good students but everyone. I like that they don't exclude the younger kids. I feel that technolgy can be incorporated in any lesson. The teachers just have to be creative. I think that it is great that they are starting the kids on the computer in the 1st grade. I thought this was good. I feel that I could incorporate technology in any subject area with plenty of research

Loved it. What a great way to build community!
I do not have a forum for students to do that so my 7th and 8th grade students do morning announcements over the intercom. But we might be able to do this using all of computers on a Blackboard or tech forum...well maybe we could.

I just finished a project with my students on interviewing family members and then the students orally presented the students. I really like the ideas of incorportating technology into the project. What a great way to start the day. With a news broadcast.
