Making the shift to Common Core State Standards
My name is Barbara and I am new to this discussion group and I have some pressing question that I would like to share with all of you who will mostly like be affected by the shift to common core state standards. As my colleagues and I prepare for the shift, I find that my teaching practice will change, but what that will look like is somewhat confusing at present. Common core is asking for the students to illustrate a D.O.K (Depth of knowledge) that ranges from 1-4. My question is how are you all deal with this transition in your districts, school sites and classrooms? How are you preparing for this shift? And what are you doing to help your students with their depth of knowledge? Any and all insights will be greatly appreciated.
