Fraction Frenzy!

I am a first year teacher of 38 diverse learners. I teach math, science and social studies in Fourth grade. This third nine weeks we are learning about fraction and decimal equivalence. My question to you all is what is another strategy I can use to help some of my students understand decimal and fraction equivalence? I have used the visual strategies with grid shading and number line.

I am a fifth and sixth grade math teacher and those are all fine strategies that you have used to teach the relationships between decimals and fractions. For fifth grade the students need to understand the relationships between the fraction, decimal, and percents. I made a deck of cards out of 52 index cards (you could have each student make their own as well) that correspond to fractions, decimals, percents, and fraction models. Each of those (fraction, decimals, percents, and fraction models) represent a suit. For example, 1/10, .1, 10%, and a model representing 1/10 would be equivalent to a 2 of clubs, spades, hearts and diamonds. From there you can play games like "Go Fish", "Memory" or any other appropriate card game.

The drawback is that it does not really teach how to convert between percent, decimal, and fraction. It is essentially designed to help the students learn the common fraction, decimal and percent conversions such as 3/4, .75 and 75% and so on.
