What are the ITSE NETS Standards? I. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. II. Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S. III. Model Digital-Age Work and Learning Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. IV. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices V. Engage in Professional Growth and Leadership Teachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. What do they mean? I. The teacher should use their knowledge of technology, subject matter, and how people learn to inspire creativity in learning, help the students advance their learning in face-to-face environments and digital environments. II. Use, create, and evaluate new ways of teaching and technology used to teach. Use these technologies to teach the students in a varieties of way so that you meet all the different diverse ways of learning. III. Teachers show that the can use these technologies fluently, and can teach and collaborate with others about and with these technological tools. IV. Teachers know the laws, and ethics behind using different technologies in the class room and follow these guidelines. They also advocate following these guidelines. V. Teachers continually try to enhance their skills using technology, and promote others to do the same. Did the teachers I have in the k-12 system while I was in school follow these Standards? In my k-12 experience, some teachers followed these standards while others didn't and some what ignored it. My math and business class teachers used technology daily and where always trying to teach using different ways, from the smartboard to ipads to games to smartboards, etc. they were always using different things. While other classes didn't follow the standard or did at the minimum. If they used a power point in a class it would just be plain white with words in which they lectured from. Should students know theses standards? I believe they should. If they did and teachers weren't trying to use different ways to teach the students just because they don't like the new technology there that could become crucial for some students to learn then they could tell someone. I'm more of a hands on learner while a friend could be a reading learner, if i had like an iPad doing an operation "if I was to be a doctor" and he was reading about it we would both learn the same material in different ways. After going through these standards and starting to understand them I believe that I will be one of the teachers that follow them thoroughly because i know how crucial they can become to the younger generations.

I think students should be well aware of the goals and standards that are expected of them. I know if I was in school I would want to know what I have to accomplish to succeed to where I want to be. I also think the students should have somewhat of an input towards their goals. It would be a fair system that would get the kids active with their peers and also motivate them to want to participate in what they have to learn to succeed. This can be done in various ways to, with school activities, polls, even getting the parents involved. I wish they had this at my school, I think a lot of students could have improved their grades and GPA and got into better colleges.
I think through my K-12 years the teachers did a fairly good job. As I got more towards the middle and high school it was more of an effect with the new technology and how teachers where using it. The use of the smart boards and the computer with PowerPoint presentations were used a lot. We didn't really do a lot of real life situations which I can see as being very interesting especially with math and science. Growing up now is well advanced with technology and I am excited to see how I change my ways in teaching to try and use technology in every day activities unlike what my teachers did.
