Pinoccio + 3D Printing = the Internet of Things

Hi everybody, this is Sally. I used to do design work for Edutopia and helped to build some of the Community features here.

I just released my new project, Pinoccio, and thought it would be great to post about it here, as I think it will be a great tool for the classroom.

Pinoccio is a complete ecosystem for building the Internet of Things. Pinoccio is a wireless, web-ready microcontroller with WiFi, a rechargeable battery, & built-in radio. We're also creating software (an API) to get Pinoccio boards talking to the Web wirelessly with minimal code within minutes of taking it out of the box.

I can imagine combining Pinoccio with 3D printing for some amazing web-enabled objects. The "Internet of Things!"

I think it's going to be a great way for teachers to teach programming in the classroom, because a teacher just needs 1 Pinoccio board with WiFi access in order to get all of their students' boards talking to the Web wirelessly.

We have plans in the future to allow you to push code wirelessly, over-the-air, to your Pinoccio board. We also want to make it easy for folks to share their projects and code on our site. This will be a big help to beginners.
